L’auteure vient présenter les différents mouvements féministes observés sur son terrain d’étude, Haïti. Les divers courants vont apparaitre en réaction à divers phénomènes sociétaux. Il est ainsi possible de cataloguer les mouvements féministes en diverses branches : le féminisme libéral, le féminisme marxisme (lénisme et orthodoxe), le féminisme populaire et le féminisme radical.

Depuis la chute du régime dictatorial des Duvalier, Haïti s’est lancé dans une transition démocratique qui a permis l’émergence des mouvements féministes. Ceux-ci ont continués de lutter pendant plus de 25 ans malgré les instabilités politiques persistantes. Cet article déduit que les féministes haïtiennes s’inscrivent dans le courant démocratique parce qu’elles cherchent un gouvernement à l’écoute des revendications des citoyens. Aujourd’hui, le mouvement est confronté, une fois de plus, au contexte politique à caractère autoritariste du pays.

This dissertation reports on an examination that was conducted to determine the prevalence and incidence of domestic violence in Haiti. The researcher used the revised Conflict Tactic Scale (CTS2) developed by Strauss and Gelles in 1986 to sample 150 women residing in Port-au-Prince in the city of Petion-Ville in subsections of Berthe, Delrnas, Bossier, and Peguy-Ville. The CTS2 was used to measure the prevalence and incidence of 5 levels of partner abuse: physical aggression, psychological aggression, sexual coercion, injury, and negotiation.

Objective. To explore the effect of an innovative, integrative program in female sexual reproductive health (SRH) and soccer (or fútbol, in Haitian Creole) in rural Haiti by measuring the rate of births among program participants 15–19 years old and their nonparticipant peers.

This essay reflects on Haitian radicalism by looking at the life and the works of novelist Marie Vieux Chauvet (1916–73). Though increasingly a subject of interest for scholars of Haitian women's literature and of Haitian feminism, Chauvet's work is only rarely considered alongside that of more politically visible figures such as Jacques Roumain, Jacques-Stephen Alexis, and René Depestre. Chauvet's exceptionalized status has much to do with her nonparticipation in the gender-bound political culture of her time.

This article provides a close reading of Marie-Célie Agnant’s Un alligator nommé Rosa (2007) and Femmes au temps des carnassiers (2015), novels that examine the range of women’s experiences during the Duvalier dictatorship. “The Crisis of Kinship: Queer Affiliations in the Sexual Economy of Slavery” reexamines the discourse of queer kinship in order to take up Sharon Holland's call that queer studies has yet to reckon with the institution of slavery. I consider how the crisis of the oedipal drama—namely, unknown parentage and incest—is foundational to the sexual economy of slavery. Rather than a taboo that finds heterosexual resolution, incest is a sexual construct of slavery that paradoxically enables the emergence of queer sexual and kinship affiliations.

Conflict Bodies: The Politics of Rape Representation in the Francophone Imaginary explores the relationship between rape and narratives of violence in francophone literature and culture. The book offers ways to account for the raped bodies beneath the conflicts of slavery, genocide, dictatorship, natural disasters and war―and to examine why doing so is necessary.
